Appropriately named White Goat, this device designed for the office can take regular letter-size paper or shreds, including that sales report you cursed until you were blue in the face, and transform it into nearly pristine rolls of white tissue. American Superconductor Lands $70 Million Chinese Contract for Wind Turbine Electrical Control Systems
American Superconductor Corporation announced recently that it has received an initial order for full wind turbine electrical control systems from China's Shenyang Blower Works (SBW) that is worth approximately $70 million. According to the agreement, the systems will be deployed in the 2 megawatt (MW) doubly fed induction wind turbines that were co-developed with AMSC Windtec, a wholly owned subsidiary of AMSC. Suzuki Burgman scooter runs on fuel cell
LONDON--A new hydrogen-powered fuel cell hybrid electric scooter will enable city commuting ease without harming the environment, the chief executive of Intelligent Energy said at the bike's launch here. Huge hydroelectric dam approved in Brazil’s Amazon
BRASILIA (Reuters) - Brazil granted an environmental license on Monday for the construction of a controversial hydroelectric dam in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. The $17 billion project on the Xingu River in the northern state of Para will help the fast-growing Latin American country cope with soaring demand for electricity but has raised concern about its impact on the environment and native Indians. Obama budget calls for market plan on climate
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House called for implementing a "comprehensive market-based policy" that includes offsets to fight climate change, but omitted a projection in the new budget that a cap-and-trade market would raise $646 billion in revenues by 2019. The Obama administration has pledged to cut U.S. emissions about 17 percent by 2020 from 2005 levels. To make those reductions, businesses may invest in greenhouse gas offsets at farms or develop export markets for clean energy technologies "through investments in emission offset activities abroad," the budget said.
