Ways to save energy and money when cooking
Cooking is easily one of the most energy intensive things you can do around the home. So in our effort to share simple, everyday things you can do to conserve energy, here is a simple tip you can use....
Keep the oven door closed when cooking. Just one little peep can cost you up to 20% of your energy and throw away your hard-earned money. If you are concerned about how your food is doing, resist the urge to open the door and instead use the oven light to make sure things aren't getting too dark or burnt. If it helps, you can also use a flashlight to check it out.
Make sure your meat thermometer is big and easy enough to read through the oven window. That way you will can be sure to leave the door closed and save that energy and money.
